For more than 25 years Operation Food Search has consistently worked to address the problem of hunger. Today, our commitment is stronger than ever as the number of people living in poverty continues to rise.
- In 2007, we collected and distributed 19.7 million pounds of food and household items.
- More than 1,500 callers each month are helped through our Hunger Hotline.
- Each week nutrition education classes are conducted for low income adults and children. Nearly 1,000 adults and children participate in nutrition education programs annually.
- More than 1,000 volunteers last year gave over 10,000 hours to support our efforts.
- Nearly 200 food and fund drives yielded more than 400,000 pounds of food.
- The average food pantry receives $55,000 worth of food annually.
- Through our collaboration with the Girl Scout Council of Greater St. Louis, more than 1 million personal care items annually are distributed to people in need.
